The Farm Trust · since 1987

One farm, three branches, land kept for the long run.

Roughly 1,690 acres on Mountain Road in Tamworth and South Tamworth, New Hampshire — fields, woods, and working buildings held by The Farm Trust for the founding families and the people who come after them.

The farm

The common farmstead gathers barns, the farmhouse, Tam O’Shanty, trails, and open land under one trust established in 1987 by the three founding lines. Since 2018 a conservation easement with the Lakes Region Conservation Trust protects most of the acreage — including wilderness — from being developed.

Up the hill, the Lontano homestead sits under its own 1996 family trust, still part of the same farm story. Privately held founders’ houses share caretaking with the trust without being trust assets. This public site stays about place and structure; family business happens after sign-in.

Tam O’Shanty

The Farm Trust’s family rental house sits among the common buildings. Shareholders and descendants request stays through the signed-in Farm Trust portal; trustees confirm every booking. Rates stay unpublished here until the trustees set a current card.

Family?

After you sign in, Lontano members open the Lontano family site; Farm Trust members open the whole-farm portal. Many people have both — switch anytime in the header.
